“Labour Party in Crisis, APC Unsafe, PDP Finished” — APGA Urges Gov Otti to Return ‘Home’

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has called on Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, to return to the party, describing it as his rightful political home and the most stable platform for sustainable governance. The appeal was made by APGA’s National Vice Chairman for the South East, Augustine Ehiemere, during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Abia South Senatorial District held last week.

Ehiemere praised Governor Otti’s performance in office, particularly his strides in security, welfare, and the prompt payment of salaries and pensions. He also highlighted Otti’s collaboration with Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, and the creation of the Abia State Security Trust Fund as positive steps in governance. However, he urged the governor to prioritize clearing outstanding gratuities owed to retired workers.

In his remarks, Ehiemere described the current political climate as unstable, asserting that most parties are either in crisis or have lost public trust. He warned against Governor Otti aligning with such parties, stating, “Labour Party is presently a breeding ground for crisis. ADC is almost in disarray, APC is not a safe ground for him, and PDP has already diminished.”

He insisted that APGA remains the most consistent and ideologically grounded party in Nigeria, offering the stability needed for Governor Otti to sustain his administration’s successes. “We are calling on Governor Alex Otti to return to his political home, APGA, where he started,” Ehiemere said.

Ehiemere also encouraged APGA members in Abia South and across the state to remain loyal and committed to the party’s vision. Governor Otti previously contested the Abia governorship under APGA in the 2015 and 2019 elections before switching to the Labour Party for the 2023 election.
