Katsina Residents Respond Enthusiastically to N50 Million Bounty, Aid Police in Hunt for Wanted Bandits
Katsina residents have actively engaged with the call for information on notorious bandit kingpins, Modi Modi and Jan Kare, leading to a surge in tips received by the Katsina State Police Command. According to ASP Aliyu Abubakar, the command’s spokesperson, the response has been overwhelming since the release of a special bulletin on Saturday.
Abubakar acknowledged the public’s cooperation but emphasized the need to carefully evaluate the information to pinpoint details crucial for the arrest of the wanted bandits. He urged residents to continue sharing information not only about the specified bandits but also on criminals across the state, demonstrating a united front against criminal activities.
In a related development, normalcy has been restored in the Wurna community, which recently protested against persistent bandit attacks by barricading the Katsina/Dutsinma highway on Friday.
The Katsina State Police Command, responding to the escalating banditry in the region, issued a special bulletin on Saturday, offering a substantial reward of N50 million to individuals providing valuable information leading to the arrest of Modi Modi and Jan Kare. The wanted bandits are known to operate within Kankara and Safana Local Government Areas.
The bulletin emphasized the commitment of the Katsina State Government and Police Command, along with other security agencies, to take decisive action against criminal elements jeopardizing the peace and stability of the state. The initiative aims to enhance security operations and combat the activities of these criminal elements, reinforcing the collective responsibility for the safety and well-being of residents.
The police command assured the confidentiality and protection of the identity of informants, encouraging citizens to come forward with relevant details to assist in apprehending the masterminds behind the heinous crimes of kidnapping and banditry.
