JUST IN: Rivers Court Deals Major Blow to Wike’s PDP, Nullifies 2024 Congresses
Justice Stephen Jumbo of the Rivers State High Court has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward, Local Government Area, and State congresses conducted in 2024 under the leadership of Nyesom Wike. This decision delivers a significant setback to the Wike-led faction of the party, which has been grappling with internal disputes and factional tensions.
The court’s ruling stems from a contentious battle over the legitimacy of the congresses organized by Wike’s faction. The decision raises serious questions about the leadership structure of the PDP in Rivers State and its potential impact on upcoming electoral processes.
This development comes in the wake of a similar ruling by the same court, which recently invalidated the Tony Okocha-led All Progressives Congress (APC) congresses in Rivers State. Those congresses were conducted in defiance of a court order, leading to the dissolution of the newly inaugurated executives.
