JUST IN: Panic in Port Harcourt as Air Peace Plane Skids Off Runway After Landing
An Air Peace aircraft veered off the runway at Port Harcourt International Airport in Rivers State on Sunday after it landed, the airline has confirmed.
According to a statement issued by Air Peace spokesman Osifo-Whiskey Efe, the incident involved Flight P47190, which was operating from Lagos to Port Harcourt. The airline stated that the aircraft experienced a “runway excursion” after landing safely but veered slightly off the runway. All passengers were able to disembark safely and without injury, and the aircraft sustained no damage.
Air Peace assured the public of its “unflinching commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety in all our operations.”
As of the time of this report, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has not issued an official comment on the incident.
Sunday’s occurrence marks yet another runway-related event at the Port Harcourt International Airport, following a similar incident in 2019. More recently, in May, an Air Peace flight was temporarily grounded at the Asaba International Airport in Delta State after an antelope collided with the aircraft while it was taxiing, disrupting flight schedules.
