JUST IN: Factional Labour Party Chairman Abure Meets Wike in Abuja (Photo)
Labour Party National Chairman Julius Abure met with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in Abuja on Sunday, sparking fresh controversy amid a deepening crisis within the party.
The meeting, confirmed by Wike’s aide, comes days after the launch of the ADC-led opposition coalition involving Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and others — a move Wike is believed to be working against.
Though still claiming to be in the PDP, Wike openly supports President Tinubu and is seen as working to weaken opposition forces from within. Abure’s recent ultimatum for Obi to leave the LP has intensified internal divisions, with rival factions clashing over the party’s stance on the coalition.
Analysts see the Abure-Wike meeting as part of broader efforts to fracture the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
