JUST IN: NCC Announces Final Deadline for NIN-SIM Linkage
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has officially declared September 14, 2024, as the final deadline for the National Identification Number (NIN) and Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) linkage exercise.
In an announcement made on Wednesday, the NCC instructed all mobile network operators (MNOs) to ensure the mandatory verification and linkage of SIMs to NINs is completed by the set date.
The commission highlighted significant progress, reporting that over 153 million SIMs have already been successfully linked to NINs, representing an impressive compliance rate of 96%. This marks a substantial increase from the 69.7% recorded in January 2024.
