Reps Direct NCC to Block All Pornographic Websites in Nigeria
The House of Representatives has directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to immediately block all pornographic websites in the country. The lawmakers mandated the NCC to work with internet service providers to ensure full compliance and restrict access to explicit content without delay.
This resolution followed a motion presented by Dalhatu Tafoki, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Katsina State. Tafoki raised the motion in light of increasing global concerns over the impact of cyber pornography, especially among young internet users. He noted that Nigeria has not taken sufficient steps to address the issue despite its growing prevalence.
Highlighting the moral values of the country, Tafoki pointed out that Nigeria remains a deeply religious nation where both Christianity and Islam reject nudity and obscenity. He said the move aligns with efforts to uphold public morality and protect societal values.
