JUST IN: Many Feared Dead in Road Accident Involving Lord’s Chosen Church Members in Imo State
A tragic road accident in Imo State, Nigeria, has left many worshippers dead. The incident occurred on Friday morning along the Owerri-Onitsha Expressway in Owerri, the state capital.
The accident involved a luxurious bus carrying members of the Lord’s Chosen Church and a Tipper vehicle. The church members were traveling to Owerri for a crusade scheduled for the weekend when the collision took place.
A witness reported that at least 20 members of the church were feared dead in the crash. Several victims have been taken to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.
The Imo State police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, confirmed the accident, stating that over five people have been confirmed dead so far. The deceased have been taken to the mortuary, while police have deployed a traffic team to the scene to assist with victim evacuation and traffic management.
