JUST IN: President Tinubu Approves Seven New Appointments at SEC (Full List)
President Bola Tinubu has greenlit the appointment of key officials at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Mr. Mairiga Aliyu Katuka has been appointed as the Chairman of SEC, while Mr. Emomotimi Agama will assume the role of Director-General.
The decision, disclosed through a statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, also included the appointment of other professionals to the SEC Board. Among them are Frana Chukwuogor, Executive Commissioner (Legal and Enforcement), Mr. Bola Ajomale, Executive Commissioner (Operations), Mrs. Samiya Hassan Usman, Executive Commissioner (Corporate Services), Mr. Lekan Belo, Non-Executive Commissioner, and Mr. Kasimu Garba Kurfi, Non-Executive Commissioner.
The statement emphasized the President’s confidence in the newly appointed members, expecting them to leverage their expertise to fulfill SEC’s mandate of developing and regulating a capital market that is dynamic, fair, transparent, and efficient. This move is aimed at bolstering investor confidence and contributing significantly to the nation’s economic development.
