JUST IN: EFCC Releases VeryDarkMan on Administrative Bail
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted administrative bail to Martins Innocent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, following his arrest over allegations of financial crimes. According to the Commission, Otse was invited for questioning based on multiple petitions involving serious accusations of financial misconduct. However, he allegedly failed to honour several invitations sent through his known addresses and communication channels.
The EFCC emphasized that the arrest was carried out in line with its statutory mandate and was not influenced by Otse’s repeated verbal attacks on the agency. While condemning his public criticisms, the EFCC stated that such actions did not motivate the decision to detain him. A lawful remand order was obtained prior to his detention, in accordance with due process.
The Commission confirmed that Otse has now been granted administrative bail and will be released once all conditions are met. It also acknowledged the heightened public interest surrounding the case, urging Nigerians to allow the EFCC to carry out its work without unwarranted speculation or interference. The agency reiterated its commitment to impartial investigations and assured that formal charges would be filed if warranted at the conclusion of the inquiry.
