EFCC Arrests Woman in Maiduguri for Wiping Mucus from Her Nose with Naira Notes
The Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested Fatima Muhammed over alleged abuse of the naira.
She was taken into custody on Tuesday, April 7, 2025, after a video circulated online showing her using a ₦500 note to wipe mucus from her nose.
Following the circulation of the footage, EFCC operatives tracked her to the Maiduguri area in Maiduguri and arrested her.
She is currently being held while investigators review the incident. Authorities say she will face court proceedings once the investigation is completed.
