JUST IN: Appeal Court Sacks PDP National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, Affirms Ude Okoye as Replacement
The Court of Appeal sitting in Enugu has ruled to remove Senator Samuel Anyanwu from his position as the National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The court also affirmed Rt. Hon. Ude Okoye as the substantive National Secretary of the party.
The court’s decision follows Anyanwu’s earlier resignation to contest for the governorship of Imo State. The judgment emphasized that Anyanwu’s continued claim to the position after stepping down contravened the provisions of the PDP constitution.
The ruling supports an earlier verdict by the Enugu High Court, which declared that Anyanwu had vacated the office upon his resignation.
In reaction to the ruling, the Opposition Lawmakers Coalition praised the judgment as a significant step towards strengthening democratic processes within the party. They expressed full confidence in Ude Okoye’s leadership as the new National Secretary.
