Insecurity: Two Lawmakers Killed Under Your Watch, Resign Now – Group Tells Gov Soludo

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has called for the resignation of Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, citing his alleged inability to address the state’s growing security challenges. The demand follows a surge in violent crimes, including killings, kidnappings, and robberies.

In a statement released on Thursday, COSEYL President General, Goodluck Ibem, condemned the deteriorating security situation, describing it as unacceptable. The group alleged that Governor Soludo had failed in his duty to protect lives and property, leading to dire consequences for residents of the state.

According to COSEYL, under the governor’s administration, two sitting members of the Anambra State House of Assembly were kidnapped and brutally murdered. Ibem emphasized that such incidents had never been recorded in the state’s history, expressing deep concern over the worsening crisis.

The statement highlighted the widespread fear among residents, stating that prominent individuals, including revered priests, had fallen victim to kidnappings and killings. Many victims, it noted, were murdered even after paying ransom to their captors.

COSEYL accused Soludo of failing in his primary responsibility to ensure security and issued a seven-day ultimatum for his resignation. The group warned that if the governor did not step down, they would organize a massive one-million-man protest across the state. The protest, they said, would continue indefinitely until their demand for Soludo’s resignation was met.
