“In 2027, We Will Reward Tinubu with 2.5 Million Votes” – Okpebholo

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has pledged to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election. Speaking at Okaijesan Town Hall in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area, the governor described the promise as a token of appreciation for the developmental progress witnessed under Tinubu’s leadership.

The governor made the statement during a gathering to welcome thousands of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Addressing the crowd, Okpebholo emphasized that the APC in Edo remains an inclusive platform open to all citizens who share a vision for progress and development. He praised the defectors for voluntarily joining the party, citing the tangible results of his administration’s developmental agenda as a major reason for their decision.

“I want to commend the members of the PDP who have made the decision to join our great party, the APC,” Okpebholo said. “This defection is a testament to the fact that the PDP has lost relevance in Esan Central, my own constituency. Today marks the political end of the PDP in this local government.”

He described the wave of defections as a strong endorsement of the APC’s leadership and direction in Edo State. “In 2027, we will reward President Tinubu’s love for Edo with 2.5 million votes. The people have spoken through their actions. Edo is APC, and APC is the vehicle of our development under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the governor declared.

Governor Okpebholo assured the people that he would continue to work diligently to ensure sustained progress across the state. “I will not fail you,” he said.

Among the notable political figures who rejoined the APC were former Edo State APC Chairman Anselm Ojezua, members of the Edo State House of Assembly, former local government chairmen, councillors, and former PDP leaders.

Major General Cecil Esekhaigbe (rtd), leader of the APC in Edo Central Senatorial District, also addressed the gathering. He welcomed the new members and reaffirmed that the party offers a level playing field for all, regardless of background, as long as they are committed to the unity and growth of Edo State.
