“If My Dad Says He Wasn’t Aware of My Marriage, That’s His Business” — Yul Edochie

Actor-turned-politician Yul Edochie has responded to comments by his father, veteran actor Pete Edochie, regarding his second marriage to Judy Austin.

In August 2023, Pete Edochie said he first learned about Yul’s second marriage online, just like the public. Speaking more than two years later on the KaaTruths podcast, Yul said his father’s views do not influence his personal decisions.

“He’s entitled to whatever he wants to say… My problem is not what my father thinks about my personal decision. I’m not a child,” Yul said. “Anything that is good for me, I go for it. I don’t have to explain or complain. Real men don’t explain or complain. You face it.”

Yul also affirmed his respect and love for his father. “I love him. He cannot get me angry… Whatever he says, he’s entitled to it,” he added, acknowledging Pete’s role in raising him and his siblings.

Yul married internet personality May in 2004, and they had three sons and a daughter before divorcing in August 2023. He publicly introduced Judy as his second wife in April 2022, and the couple now has three children: Munachimso (2022), Ndubuisi (2024), and Universe Ifeyinwa (2025).
