Why South-East Should Produce Nigeria’s Next President – Yul Edochie
Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has called for Nigeria’s next President to emerge from the South-East, citing fairness and equity as the basis for his appeal. In a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday, Edochie said it was only just for the region to be supported in producing the country’s next leader. “The next President of Nigeria should come from the South-East in fairness and equity. That’s just the truth and that’s how it should be,” he said.
The actor’s comments surprised many, given his well-known support for President Bola Tinubu. Edochie has consistently defended the Tinubu administration, urging Nigerians to remain patient with the country’s economic challenges, and expressing optimism that the government’s reforms would eventually yield positive results. His latest position marks a notable shift amid growing political discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Has the region supported any region in producing president since 2015?
In politics, there are times for alignment and realignment but the Igbo region doesn’t believe in that.
They prefer to play politics as a lone ranger which is not feasible in today’s political terrain.
