Ibori’s Daughter: ‘PDP Almost Killed My Ambitions’

Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Delta State Governor James Ibori and current representative of Ethiope Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, has described her recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the most significant decision of her political career.

Ibori-Suenu accused the PDP of undermining her political aspirations, stating that her move to the APC was a necessary step for her career. Speaking on the transition, she expressed gratitude to her supporters and APC leaders, emphasizing that the APC provided a more conducive environment for her goals.

“We will bury PDP in Ologbo River, the bridge between Delta and Edo states. I am already at home – APC is supreme. The people in PDP wanted to kill my political aspirations, but thank God, I have finally left,” she declared.

Her defection has been met with praise from APC leaders, including the immediate past Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, who referred to Ibori-Suenu as a “political bulldozer.” Omo-Agege expressed confidence that her addition to the APC would significantly enhance the party’s chances in Delta State during the 2027 elections.

“With Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu’s support, the APC is better positioned to take over Delta. Her energy and dedication will greatly strengthen our chances,” Omo-Agege said.
