“I Resigned, Not Dismissed” – Anambra Information Commissioner
The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Paul Nwosu, has clarified that his recent departure from office was due to a voluntary resignation, not a dismissal as speculated in some media reports.
In an exclusive interview on Tuesday, Nwosu confirmed that his decision to step down was personal and based on his lengthy service in the state government. “I have tried. I have been in the government consistently for ten years, six months,” he stated, adding that he felt it was time for him to “rest and refresh” before deciding on his next steps.
Nwosu’s resignation comes amidst rumors suggesting that he was dismissed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, with some reports linking his exit to a viral video of the governor. However, the former commissioner firmly denied these claims, stressing that his departure had no connection to any controversies. “Nothing happened. Has someone who stayed in the government for ten years and six months not tried?” he asked, refuting any notion of a forced exit.
While Nwosu did not disclose his future plans, he expressed his gratitude to Governor Soludo for the opportunity to serve and emphasized his commitment to Anambra State during his tenure.
