How Arthur Angel’s Teenage Son Murdered Him – Police

In a tragic update to the murder of Arthur Angel, SK Blog reports new details from the Edo State Police Command about how the 70-year-old was killed by his 17-year-old son, Arthur Angel Jr., over a dispute concerning money from Amnesty International.

Earlier reports by SK Blog revealed that the renowned anti-death penalty advocate, Arthur Judah Angel, was found dead. The Edo State Police Command has now confirmed that his teenage son is the prime suspect.

Public Relations Officer SP Chidi Nwabuzor, addressing newsmen in Benin City, disclosed that the younger Arthur had repeatedly threatened his father over an anticipated payment from Amnesty International. On July 15, 2024, the tragic turn of events unfolded.

According to SP Nwabuzor, “The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ugboha division received a complaint from Arthur Angel Jr. about discovering a shallow grave in their backyard. The police mobilized to the scene, where they exhumed the body of Arthur Angel, finding a sharp injury on the back of his head.”

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect believed the money had been paid to his father and, driven by this suspicion, used a sledgehammer to fatally strike his father while he slept. The elder Angel’s body was subsequently buried in a shallow grave behind their house.

Arthur Angel Jr. has been arrested and transferred to the homicide section of the Edo State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Until his untimely death, Arthur Judah Angel was a passionate human rights defender and anti-death penalty advocate, known for his foundation, Life Wire International Foundation. He traveled to over 15 countries, using art exhibitions and drawings to campaign against the death penalty.
