Hezbollah Launches 165 Rockets Into Northern Israel; IDF Responds with Airstrikes
Lebanon’s Hezbollah militia has fired approximately 165 rockets into northern Israel, according to statements from the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). The attacks injured at least six people, including a one-year-old child, in areas around Karmiel and Kirjat Ata, east of Haifa, as reported by Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency services.
Israel’s missile defense system intercepted several of the rockets, while others landed in open areas, limiting potential casualties. Hezbollah, a Shiite militia backed by Iran, has intensified its attacks from Lebanon since the start of the Gaza conflict over a year ago. The Israeli military has responded with widespread airstrikes and a ground offensive aimed at neutralizing the threat.
The conflict’s toll on northern Israel has been severe, with 74 Israelis reportedly killed by cross-border shelling from Lebanon. This includes 43 civilians and 31 military personnel. Additionally, over 640 individuals have sustained injuries since the conflict began, further heightening regional tensions.
