Gunmen Kill OSPAC Vigilante Operative in Rivers
Authorities from the Rivers Police Command have launched a thorough search across Igwuruta community, Ikwerre Local Government Area, following the tragic killing of a vigilante operative affiliated with the ONELGA Security Planning Advisory Committee (OSPAC). The deceased, identified simply as Prince, fell victim to a deadly ambush allegedly orchestrated by kidnappers late Wednesday night.
According to reports, Prince was part of a swift OSPAC response team summoned to address a kidnapping incident in the area. Regrettably, the vigilantes were met with gunfire from unidentified assailants who targeted them during their operation. While Prince succumbed to his injuries at the scene, his fellow team members narrowly escaped the assault.
The incident has instilled fear within Igwuruta community, prompting residents to seek refuge amidst the sudden turmoil.
As of now, the deceased’s body has been transported to an undisclosed mortuary, as confirmed by SP Grace Iringe-Koko, spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command. She assured the public that investigations into the attack are already underway.
