Troops Arrest Two Wanted IPOB Kingpins in Anambra, Eliminate Terrorist in Katsina
Nigerian Army troops have arrested two high-profile members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) in Anambra State. These individuals, Ifeanyi Godwin and Uche Onuoha, had been on the police wanted list since 2023.
The arrests occurred during a patrol in the Orumba South local government area, specifically near Umunze, while the suspects were traveling in a Toyota Highlander SUV. The troops recovered two pump-action rifles, 41 cartridges, a hand-held communication radio, and several fetish objects from their possession.
Investigations revealed that the suspects were involved in various criminal activities, with Godwin allegedly using a hotel he owned from kidnapping proceeds as an IPOB/ESN operational base.
In a related development in Oyo State, troops raided the residence of suspected kidnap kingpin Bello Chikidawoje in the Bodija Area of Ibadan North LGA. The operation, based on credible intelligence, led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, loaded magazines, and additional ammunition buried inside an animal’s cage. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend Chikidawoje and dismantle his criminal network.
Meanwhile, in Katsina State, troops responded to a distress call about terrorists blocking the road in Ruma Yargamji, Batsari. Their swift action forced the terrorists to flee, resulting in the recovery of three empty AK-47 magazines.
Additionally, acting on intelligence regarding a planned attack on commuters returning from a village market in Kankara LGA, troops confronted the terrorists, killing one and recovering an AK-47 rifle and ammunition.
The Nigerian Army continues its operations against criminal elements across the country, aiming to enhance security and protect citizens from insurgent activities.
