Gunmen Abduct Abuja-Based Juju Musician and Crew, Demand N10 Million Ransom for Each Hostage

Abuja-based Juju musician, Omoba De Jombo Beats, along with his crew members, fell victim to a brazen kidnapping while en route to a performance in Kogi State on Sunday.

The distressing news was brought to light by Nigerian musician Adeyinka Adeboye, widely known as Boyebest, who shared details of the abduction on his Instagram account. Boyebest revealed that the kidnappers have demanded a hefty N10 million ransom for the release of each captive, plunging the entertainment community into a state of shock and concern.

“A whole full band members kidnapped, Naija is ****ed up I swear, my prayers are with you guys. You all would come out alive,” Boyebest expressed in his Instagram post. “@omobadejumbobeats and his band men were kidnapped on their way to Kogi from Abuja for a performance yesterday. Please, we need help as the kidnappers are demanding N10m ransom on each person. God, please bring these your children back home. This is so so scary. God have mercy.”

Ayo Omodogbe (@aysneakey), another Instagram user, disclosed that the incident occurred along Obajana/Kabba Bunu Road in Kogi State. Expressing deep concern, Ayo emphasized the prevalence of kidnapping along this route despite numerous police checkpoints.

“We are based in Abuja. They are on their way back from a function in Ondo. It happened along Obajana/Kabba road. In fact, that road is now like a den for kidnappers, and the suspicious thing is there are lots of police checkpoints on that road. Pls pray for them. It’s so disheartening,” Ayo said.

Efforts to obtain official information from the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Police Command, SP William Aya, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report. However, SP William Aya acknowledged receiving information about the kidnap incident and assured further communication after making inquiries. The gravity of the situation underscores the urgent need for concerted efforts to ensure the safe return of the abducted musicians and their crew.
