Groom, Two Friends Die in Car Crash an Hour Before Wedding in Bauchi
What was meant to be a joyful wedding day ended in tragedy in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State. A groom and two of his close friends lost their lives in a fatal car crash just an hour before the wedding ceremony was set to begin.
The incident took place on Saturday morning as SP Mustapha Garba Gumau, a senior police officer, was travelling from Gumau to Magaman-Gumau for his wedding fatiha, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. The accident occurred around 9:00 a.m. at Bargan Tsamiya village.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle transporting the groom and his companions veered off the road and crashed. SP Mustapha, along with Shuaibu Umar and Sulaiman Musa, died instantly. Several others in the vehicle sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The tragedy has left the communities of Gumau and Magaman-Gumau in deep mourning, as preparations for celebration have now turned into an outpouring of grief. Attempts to reach the spokesman of the Bauchi State Police Command, Mohammed Wakil, were unsuccessful as his line remained unreachable.
