Forgive Me For Being One of those People that Brought Oshiomhole to Be Governor, Ize-Iyamu Begs Edo People

A chieftain of the Edo chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Pastor Osagie Ize- Iyamu, has urged Edo citizens to forgive him for helping Governor Adams Oshiomhole to win the Edo governorship election in 2007 under the Action Congress of Nigeria umbrella.

This comes as former executive director of community development Faustine Ovienroba defected to the PDP just 24 hours after he was fired by the governor.

He had revealed his reason for the defection, citing non-construction of the road leading to his community as well as the failure to tackle the erosion menace in the area, as promised by the state government when he earlier left the PDP for the APC, as reasons for returning to the PDP.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu, however, said that his apology was necessary because the governor had turned truth upside town.

He said: “Edo people should forgive me for being one of those in the forefront that brought Mr. Oshiomhole to be the governor of the state. We now know who he is. Therefore, in the coming elections, Edo people should not repeat the mistake of the past.

“When I remember how we brought in Oshiomhole to contest the 2007 governorship election, I weep because we brought in a bad thing.”

Edo PDP chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, while receiving Ovienroba and his supporters, accused the current governor of misappropriation of funds, spending the sum of N11.6 million to “buy drinks” for Gen Muhammadu Buhari, and wondered how Buhari, who is a Muslim, could be bought alcohol.
