Explosion Rocks Kaduna Community, Injuring 10 Children
Tension gripped Kidandan Village in the Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Saturday afternoon as 10 children suffered injuries in a sudden explosion. The incident occurred while the children were playing with an object discovered in a nearby bush.
According to sources, the object is believed to be a bomb, and it detonated unexpectedly. Disturbing images seen online depicted the victims covered in blood, receiving assistance from concerned residents. Subsequently, they were swiftly transported to Shika Hospital in Zaria for urgent medical attention.
The Village Head, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Ruka, verified the incident, stating that he is currently compiling the names of the injured as the police have visited the community. He confirmed, “10 people were injured, and thankfully, there are no reported fatalities. They have been taken to the hospital for treatment, and I am in the process of gathering their names.”
Councilor Abdullahi Ismail, representing Kidandan Ward, corroborated the account, revealing that the children had picked up the object in the bush while searching for firewood. “I was told the children picked up the object in the bush when they went looking for firewood. It exploded and injured them badly,” he stated.
An anonymous community leader shared the harrowing scene, describing witnessing one victim’s exposed intestines and noting that others suffered broken limbs.
As of the time of this report, attempts to reach the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful. The community remains on edge as investigations into the incident unfold.
