Edo State Governor Okpebholo Suspends Revenue Collection, Orders Police to Enforce New Directives

Edo State’s newly inaugurated governor, Monday Okpebholo, has announced an immediate and indefinite suspension of all revenue collection activities across the state. This suspension affects collections in areas such as motor parks and other public facilities and is expected to remain in effect until further notice.

A statement from Hon. Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okpebholo, confirmed the governor’s directive, which also instructs Edo State Commissioner of Police to strictly enforce the order. The governor emphasized that anyone found collecting revenue on behalf of the state would be arrested, stressing a zero-tolerance approach to violations of this directive.

“The collection of revenues in the state has been suspended indefinitely. Anyone seen collecting revenues on behalf of the state government will be arrested,” Okpebholo stated. He noted that this measure would allow time for a thorough review of the issues surrounding the state’s revenue collection system.

Governor Okpebholo pledged to soon address public concerns related to revenue collection processes and announced that further guidelines will be issued after this review.
