DSS Arrests Alleged Fake CSO Leader Over Blackmail Claims

The Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended Kennedy Tabukoi, accused of operating an unregistered non-governmental organization, the Niger Delta Development Initiative (NDDI), to allegedly blackmail prominent government officials.

Security sources revealed that Tabukoi targeted officials by making financial and contract-related demands. When these demands were not met, he allegedly organized groups to stage protests against the officials, thereby exerting public pressure.

One such protest occurred on Thursday morning at the National Assembly gate. Tabukoi reportedly led multiple groups in demonstrations, accusing federal lawmakers of attempting to obstruct a probe into the petroleum sector.

According to sources, Tabukoi had been under surveillance after several government officials reported attempts to blackmail them. They alleged that Tabukoi threatened them with public embarrassment unless they acceded to his demands.

The sources further disclosed that Tabukoi often portrayed himself as a Niger Delta activist and used the guise of his NGO to intimidate officials. However, members of his inner circle who had grown wary of his activities alerted authorities.

Investigations revealed that NDDI was not a registered organization and was allegedly being used as a tool for blackmail and extortion. The DSS has intensified its probe into the matter as part of its efforts to curtail such activities.
