Jigawa Hisbah Seizes 78 Cartons of Alcohol in Kazaure, Reaffirms Prohibition
The Jigawa State Hisbah Board has reaffirmed its ban on the importation, sale, and consumption of alcohol in the state. Ibrahim Dahiru, the commandant of the board, made this statement on Thursday during a press briefing with journalists. He emphasized that the measure is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to reform the board and curb social vices across Jigawa.
As part of its enforcement activities, the Hisbah seized 78 cartons of assorted alcoholic beverages in Kazaure Local Government Area. The alcohol was confiscated during a raid on three beer parlours early in the morning. However, no arrests were made, as the suspected owners of the establishments fled before the Hisbah personnel arrived.
Dahiru assured that the Hisbah would continue its operations to uphold the prohibition and take action against anyone found violating the law. He added that the seized alcoholic drinks would soon be presented in court for further legal proceedings.
