‘Disgusting Abomination’: Bode George Again Berates Wike Over Comments on PDP

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has strongly criticised recent comments by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who claimed the PDP played no role in his political ascent. In an appearance on Arise TV, George denounced Wike’s remarks as a “disgusting abomination,” stressing the pivotal role the PDP played in Wike’s political journey, including his time as governor of Rivers State.

George described the PDP as a resilient and deeply rooted political institution, likening it to an “iroko tree” that withstands storms. He underscored the collective nature of the party, rejecting the notion that individual efforts alone define political success. “If you see any ballot box, did you see the names of any individuals written on the ballot papers?” he asked pointedly, defending the PDP as a party governed by rules and not owned by any single person.

Addressing Wike’s tone and posture, George noted that Wike is of the same age as his eldest son and advised him to reflect on the fleeting nature of power. Quoting Shakespeare’s *Macbeth*, he said: “Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more,” urging the minister to adopt a more humble perspective.

George reiterated that the PDP’s structure, including its Board of Trustees, exists to enforce discipline and guide members according to the party’s founding principles. He dismissed the idea of further engaging Wike in a personal feud, choosing instead to focus on the party’s strengths and its ability to address Nigeria’s challenges. “I would like to talk about our party – the future of our party, the strength of our party and the need to convince Nigerians that this our party is in a much better position to handle the problems that are plaguing every Nigerian,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, George expressed optimism about the PDP’s prospects, asserting the party has both the track record and the capacity to deliver meaningful development to the Nigerian people.
