Delta State Militant Group Dares FG, Demands Waterways Security Following Okuama Killings

In the wake of the tragic killing of 17 military personnel at Okuama, Delta State, on March 14, a militant group known as Amagbein Force has boldly stepped forward, issuing a daring demand to the Federal Government. Through a trending video released today, a spokesperson for the group, representing their leader Amagbein, the self-proclaimed River Lord, made their demands clear.

The Nigerian Army has pointed fingers at Amagbein as the orchestrator behind the brutal massacre on March 12 and has been in pursuit, tracking him to the Igbomotoru community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. However, their efforts to apprehend him have so far been unsuccessful, as Amagbein remains at large, having even ousted the traditional ruler of Igbomotoru from his throne.

In the video, a bearded member of the Amagbein Force, sporting a singlet and a white band tied around his head, invoked the legacy of the late Isaac Adaka Boro, a revered Ijaw revolutionary leader, claiming kinship with him. He pledged unwavering loyalty to Amagbein, vowing to stand by him until death.

Addressing the Federal Government directly, the spokesperson urged for the transfer of waterways security to individuals committed to “doing the right work.” They emphasized that unless their demands are met peacefully, the illicit activities such as bunkering, which continue to plague the region, will persist unabated.

The boldness of Amagbein Force’s demands underscores the precarious security situation in the Niger Delta region, as militant groups vie for control and assert their influence over key resources and territories.
