Chairman of Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Engr. Adedeji Doherty, has felicitated the head of the council in the South West zone, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, on his new age, describing him as “my brother in whom I’m well pleased”.
Dr. Olafeso, who is the Chairman of the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council for the South West zone turned a year older on February 18, 2023.
In a congratulatory message e-signed on his behalf by Mr. Muka Popoola, the head of DD Media Team, Doherty said that it was gladdening to see Olafeso advancing in age as well as political horizon is growing bigger as a leading light for the PDP across the six states in the South West.
Doherty noted that it was symbolic that Olafeso would still be in the euphoria of his birthday mood when the nation goes to the general elections in six days time, saying that the greatest birthday gift he would ever get is the assured victory of the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as the next President of Nigeria with the South West zone also contributing an appreciate chunk of votes to the PDP overall success in the election.
Olafeso’s rich knowledge of the South West politics and the astuteness of his inter-personal relationships with every identifiable tendencies in the zone’s political clime, according to Doherty, have always been a huge asset to the party at every opportunity that he’s been called to service.
Doherty said that Olafeso’s regime as Chairman of PDP in the South West zone was one of the most challenging but eventful, recalling how he helped to resolve the crisis in troubled states like Ogun, Lagos and especially Oyo state which he successfully navigated to ensure the emergence of Gov. Seyi Makinde over the APC government that had seized power for eight years in the state since 2011.
“You did so much to stabilise the South West zone and strengthen the states. The way you meticulously navigated Oyo state and delivered the state to the PDP making Engr. Seyi Makinde emerge as the governor was the icing on the cake of your achievements as the South West PDP Chairman”, remarks Doherty who is the immediate past chairman of the Lagos PDP.
Recalling how Olafeso studiously intervened in the seemingly intractable crisis that had plagued the Lagos PDP for several years and managed to weave together the State Exco with a state chairman to ever emerge through the ballot, Doherty said it was for him a worthwhile experience working with the Ondo-born politico at the twilight of his tenure as the South West zonal chairman.
While congratulating Olafeso on his new age, Doherty says he feels delighted as the Lagos PCC Chairman working with him again on the Atiku-Okowa presidential project, saying that his wish for him is to continue to soar in politics and his other life endeavours.
