Breaking News: Lawan Elected Senate President
Senators on Tuesday elected the Senator representing Borno North senatorial district, Ahmed Lawan as the president of the ninth Senate.
Lawan,the favoured candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 79 votes to defeat his main challenger, Senator Ali Ndume who polled 28 votes in an election that was held in the hallowed chambers of the Senate.
He was nominated for the position by Senator Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi state) and seconded by Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan (Lagos state) of the APC.
107 Senators participated in the election.
