Breaking News: Gbajabiamila Defeats Bago, Wins Speakership
Former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila was on Tuesday elected Speaker of the House.
The Lagos-born lawmaker defeated his main challenger, Mohammed Bago to clinch the nation’s number four job.
Gbajabiamila representing Surulere 1 federal constituency was the All Progressives Congress (APC) favoured candidate for the position. He was nominated by Abdulmumini Jibrin and seconded by Linda Chuba-Ikpeazu.
358 members-elect voted in the election. Gbajabiamila polled 281 votes while Bago polled 76 votes.
