Bobrisky Did Not Evade Jail, But Received Privileges – Investigative Panel
The investigative panel appointed to look into claims that Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, was kept outside prison during his six-month sentence has dismissed the allegations. The panel confirmed, however, that the cross-dresser received special privileges during his time in custody.
The inquiry followed rumors that Bobrisky, convicted for charges related to cross-dressing, evaded serving his sentence in the custodial facility. After thorough investigation, the panel, which included Uju Agomoh, Executive Director of Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA), found no evidence supporting the claim that Bobrisky stayed outside prison between April 12 and August 5, 2024.
Agomoh stated, “The panel did not find any evidence that suggested Mr. Okuneye slept outside the custodial center during his imprisonment.” She also noted that Bobrisky’s sentence followed standard remission protocols, which shortened his stay in line with correctional policies.
While dismissing the more severe accusations, the panel acknowledged that Bobrisky enjoyed certain privileges, though the specifics of these were not disclosed.
