Benue Man Kills Wife Over Alleged Lack of Submissiveness
In a shocking incident in Korinya-City, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, a man identified as Bem Matthew has been arrested for the gruesome murder of his wife. The tragic incident unfolded at approximately 7:03 am on Tuesday, sending shockwaves through the community.
Disturbed by the horrifying scene, concerned neighbors swiftly converged at the location of the crime, where they managed to apprehend the suspect, while the lifeless body of the victim was transported to the local mortuary.
Law enforcement authorities acted promptly, with officers from the Konshisha Divisional Police Station apprehending the suspect, Bem Matthew. During his interrogation at the police station, the accused confessed to the heinous crime, citing his wife’s alleged lack of “submissiveness” as the motive for the brutal act.
An eyewitness, who chose to remain anonymous, disclosed that the victim suffered multiple stab wounds, including injuries to her rib, back, and thigh. The couple’s union had been blessed with four children, further deepening the tragedy of the situation.
The mortal remains of the deceased have been entrusted to the mortuary of Saint Joseph’s Clinic and Maternity, located in Korinya City, while the community grapples with the shocking events that transpired.
Efforts to obtain a response from the Benue State Police Command were hampered, as the police spokesperson, SP Catherine Anekwe, remained inaccessible for comments at the time of reporting. This tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of addressing domestic issues through peaceful means and community support to prevent such heartbreaking outcomes.
