Auto Crash Claims Lives of Three ABSU Medical Students Returning from Induction Ceremony
Three students from Abia State University Uturu’s Medicine and Surgery program are feared dead following a tragic auto accident on Thursday. The students were returning to Aba after attending the school’s induction ceremony for medical students.
Fredrick Ogiden, the Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Abia State, confirmed the incident, revealing that the accident involved an ash-colored private Toyota Camry. The collision occurred during the late hours of the day along the Okigwe axis of the Enugu-Umuahia Expressway.
According to reports, the students, comprising mostly medical students, had traveled to Uturu to celebrate with their senior colleagues on their induction.
“At the time of this report, three students have been confirmed dead, while two others are critically injured and are currently fighting for their lives in the hospital. One miraculously survived,” stated Ogiden.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the driver was traveling at a high speed when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to somersault three times before colliding with a palm tree.
Efforts to obtain comments from the Abia Police authorities for confirmation were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
