ABSU Student Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Okigwe–Afikpo Expressway

A 200-level student of Abia State University (ABSU), Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, has died following a road accident in Abia State.

The incident occurred on Sunday, April 19, 2026, along the Okigwe–Afikpo Expressway in Uturu. It gained widespread attention after a video from the scene circulated online.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Maureen Chioma Chinaka, the crash involved two motorcycles that collided head-on. The impact threw their passengers onto the road.

Chinaka said the victim was subsequently run over by an oncoming Mack truck.

“The command is aware of the incident, which occurred at the Water Board area of Uturu on April 19, 2026. Two motorcycles were involved in a head-on collision, causing passengers to be thrown onto the road. This led to the death of Miss Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, who was run over by a moving Mack truck,” she stated.

Police officers from the Motor Traffic Department visited the scene after the crash. Injured victims were taken to a hospital, where they are reported to be responding to treatment.

The police spokesperson added that a medical doctor confirmed the student’s death, after which her remains were released to her family. The motorcycles and truck involved have been recovered and taken into police custody.
