Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, has issued a public warning to Anambra-based social commentator and government critic, Kingsley Ubani, following a Facebook post criticizing Governor Charles Soludo's administration.
Ubani had alleged that the state government recruited over 100 "media warriors" to improve the governor's public image instead of investing in youth empowerment. He also criticized the construction of a second airport, describing it as a misplaced priority.
Responding in the comment section, Mefor wrote:
"Get a lawyer to guide you. You have crossed the line several times. The onus of proof is clear where it lies."
Ubani, who says he has consistently criticized the Soludo administration over issues of transparency, accountability, and governance, described the comment as a response to his sustained criticism.
The commissioner's remarks have been interpreted by many as a warning of possible legal action or arrest, particularly in light of allegations that critics of the Anambra State Government have previously faced arrest after publicly criticizing the administration. However, no legal action against Ubani has been announced as of the time of this report.
