Sahara Reporters has published the identities of the 104 Nigerian Army personnel declared missing and listed as deserters following a deadly Boko Haram attack on their base in Borno State.

The publication comes a day after reports that the soldiers, attached to the 162 Amphibious Battalion along the Mandara–Buratai Road, were declared missing weeks after the June 5 attack on the military formation.

According to Sahara Reporters, a classified military signal marked "Restricted" stated that the soldiers left their duty post with their service rifles after the attack and have not returned. The document reportedly declared them deserters effective June 5 and directed military formations to apprehend any of the personnel if found.

The affected personnel comprise one Staff Sergeant, three Sergeants, seven Corporals, 38 Lance Corporals and 55 Privates.
