Anambra Security Forces Kill Kidnapper, Rescue Victim in Ihiala

A suspected kidnapper was killed and a victim rescued by a joint security team in Ihiala, Anambra State. The operation, carried out by personnel from the Nigerian Police, the military, and the local vigilante group, took place on Monday night.

According to the Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent Tochukwu Ikenga, the five-man gang was intercepted while attempting to escape with their victim in a black shuttle bus, registered as RSH 255 MS. The security team, noticing the suspicious manner in which the vehicle was being driven, attempted to stop it. In response, the suspects opened fire, prompting a gun battle.

During the exchange, one suspect was neutralized, while the remaining four managed to escape with severe bullet wounds. After the confrontation, security operatives discovered a blindfolded victim inside the abandoned vehicle. The individual’s hands and legs were bound, and their mouth was gagged. The victim was immediately taken to a hospital for first aid treatment.

The shuttle bus was recovered and taken to the police station as security forces launched further operations to track down the fleeing criminals. Superintendent Ikenga urged hospitals and medical facilities to report any individuals seeking treatment for bullet wounds or other suspicious injuries to the nearest police station.
