“American International School to EFCC: ‘We’ve Got a Serious Case of Tuition Refunditis!’ Can You Share Those Bank Deets, Please?”
In a cheeky twist, the school, in a letter addressed to the Lagos Zonal Commander of the EFCC, disclosed that a total of $845,852 has been paid in tuition fees from September 7, 2021, onwards. AISA clarified that $760,910 would be the sum eligible for refund after accounting for educational services already provided.
The American International School of Abuja has formally requested the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to provide valid banking details for reimbursing fees paid for the children of Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi state.
Allegedly, Bello made an upfront payment of $720,000 for the education of his five children, ranging from Grade Levels 2 to 8, using funds from the Kogi State Government.
Amidst swirling allegations of an N80.2 billion fraud, EFCC operatives made a daring move on April 17, besieging Bello’s Abuja residence in an attempt to apprehend him. However, the plot took an unexpected turn when Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi, reportedly swooped in and whisked Bello away.
In a cheeky twist, the school, in a letter addressed to the Lagos Zonal Commander of the EFCC, disclosed that a total of $845,852 has been paid in tuition fees from September 7, 2021, onwards. AISA clarified that $760,910 would be the sum eligible for a refund after accounting for educational services already provided.
The letter humorously requested an official written appeal from the EFCC, complete with their genuine banking particulars, to facilitate the reimbursement process amid ongoing investigations into the alleged money laundering activities linked to the Bello family.
From September 7, 2021, to date, a grand total of $845,852.84 has been cheerfully deposited into the school’s bank account, eagerly awaiting its reunion with its rightful owner.
