The attack, believed to have been carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen, occurred late Sunday evening, causing widespread panic and sorrow among the locals.
Sources indicate that the assailants targeted a group of mourners gathered at Ugwuijoro Nimbo, a small community within the area. The attackers stormed the gathering and opened fire indiscriminately, causing chaos and leading to a significant number of casualties. Several bodies were left in pools of blood, and many others sustained critical injuries.
The victims of this horrific attack have been identified as Okeh Simon Ugwu Oruku, Okeh Chukwuebuka, Julius Ogbonna Odiegwu, and Gabriel Ugwor Ezea. The scene of the attack showed signs of chaos and destruction, with scattered tables and chairs among the blood-stained ground.
The police have not yet released an official statement regarding the attack.
