Alleged Extortion: Sani Released by EFCC
Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker that represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Sani was arrested by the anti graft agency last December on allegations that he extorted the sum of $24,000 from the chairman of ASD Motors, Alhaji Sani Dauda. According to the EFCC, Sani extorted the money from Dauda to shield him from an ongoing criminal investigation.
Justice Inyan Ekwo of the Federal High Court Abuja had on Monday admitted the former lawmaker to bail in the sum of N10m after he spent four weeks in the custody of the EFCC and a surety with property within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
