Abia State Government Suspends Another Traditional Ruler Amid Allegations of Misconduct

The Abia State government has taken decisive action in response to alleged misconduct, suspending the traditional ruler of Azumini Ndoki, Eze Edward Ebere Eule. The suspension comes after recommendations from the Board of Inquiry, tasked with investigating alleged wrongdoings by traditional rulers in Abia State.

Eze Edward Ebere Eule has been directed to account for N8 million from community electricity funds, reportedly held in a bank account. The suspension is for a duration of 30 days, during which the royal figure must comply with the recommendations of the Board of Inquiry.

In a press release issued over the weekend, Abia State’s commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Uzor Nwachukwu, emphasized that the suspension will persist until the traditional ruler fulfills the stipulated requirements within the given timeframe.

Furthermore, the Board of Inquiry instructed Eze Edward Ebere Eule to promptly reverse any dissolution of unions, associations, or organizations that he allegedly carried out without proper due process.

This development follows a similar incident in January 2024 when the traditional ruler of Ibom Isii in Arochukwu LGA, Eze Kanu Nwa Kanu, was removed by the State government based on the findings of the Board of Inquiry.
