48hrs Ultimatum: “We’re Yet to Receive Rivers Assembly’s Resolutions on 2025 Budget” — State Government

The Rivers State government has stated that it has not yet received the resolutions passed by the Rivers State House of Assembly regarding the presentation of the 2025 budget.

During its sitting on Monday, the Assembly, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, demanding that he present the state’s 2025 budget. However, in a letter dated March 5, 2025, and addressed to the Speaker, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Tammy Danagogo, clarified that as of the close of work on Tuesday, no official communication had been received by the Governor’s office, the Deputy Governor’s office, or the Accountant-General’s office.

The letter referenced Governor Fubara’s statewide broadcast on March 2, in which he affirmed his commitment to the rule of law despite his personal views on the state’s ongoing political crisis. The governor assured residents that he would fully comply with the Supreme Court’s rulings in the best interest of the people of Rivers State.

The government also disclosed that its legal team was awaiting a certified true copy (CTC) of the Supreme Court’s judgment to facilitate its implementation. It reassured the public that once the judgment was officially received, the governor would act accordingly and without delay.

The letter further noted that the government became aware of the Assembly’s resolution through social media, rather than through official channels. It reiterated that no formal correspondence had reached the relevant state offices regarding the budget ultimatum.
