36-Year-Old Man Dies in Fight With Rival at Girlfriend’s House
A dispute over a relationship turned deadly in Mpasatia, Atwima Mponua District, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, when a 36-year-old man lost his life during a fight.
The deceased, identified as *Emmanuel Somiah*, had reportedly gone to his girlfriend *Cynthia Nyarko’s* residence around 5 p.m. to retrieve some belongings. While there, he encountered another man, known only as *Jeff*, who had also come to visit Cynthia.
According to witnesses, the unexpected meeting quickly escalated into a confrontation. “We heard shouting and struggling inside the house, then silence. When I went in, Emmanuel was lying on the floor, unresponsive. Cynthia said she didn’t know what had happened,” one resident recounted.
Emmanuel was rushed on a tricycle to a nearby health centre but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have detained Cynthia to assist with investigations and have launched a manhunt for Jeff, who fled the scene. The Atwima Mponua District Police Command says a full inquiry is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the fatal encounter.
