32-Year-Old Man Commits Suicide in Ogun State

A 32-year-old man, identified as Olúwaṣeun Shorinola, has tragically taken his own life in the Kémta area of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State. The incident, which occurred around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, was confirmed by the Ogun State Police Command.

The spokesperson for the command, Omolola Odutola, communicated the details to our correspondent on Thursday through an electronic message. According to the report, the deceased was discovered by his wife, who found him hanging from a wall in their home.

Odutola recounted the events leading to the discovery, stating, “On August 28, 2024, Temitope Oguntade reported at the Kémta Police Division that she received a call from Tajudeen Aremu, informing her that her immediate brother had been found dead by his wife.”

In response to the report, a team of police officers was dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found Shorinola’s lifeless body hanging against a wall, indicating a clear case of suicide. The body was subsequently taken down.

The family of the deceased requested to take the body for burial, opting not to have it sent to the mortuary for an autopsy. The police have stated that they are closely monitoring the situation.

This incident adds to a series of similar tragedies in Ogun State this year. In April, two other individuals also took their own lives in separate incidents. Opeyemi Lateef died after ingesting an insecticide, while 24-year-old Gift Bello ended her life by jumping into a well. Both incidents occurred just hours apart.
