21-Year-Old Apprentice Arrested for Killing Master and Injuring Wife with Pestle in Anambra
A 21-year-old apprentice, Chiemerie Anieke, has been arrested for allegedly killing his master and injuring the man’s wife in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed that the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, February 15. According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect struck his master, Mr. Ikechukwu Nwite, on the head with a pestle, leading to his death. Mrs. Ogechukwu Nwite, the victim’s wife, was also attacked but survived and is receiving treatment in a local hospital.
Police recovered the pestle used in the attack at the scene. Initial investigations suggest the suspect was provoked after being reprimanded for misconduct, including stealing from the shop, staying out late, and drug use.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for further investigation. Authorities have pledged to ensure a thorough inquiry and prosecute those responsible in line with the law.
