Woman Dies Under Controversial Circumstances After Sleepover at House of Man She Met on TikTok; Police Blame Generator Fumes

A young woman identified as Brenda has died under controversial circumstances after spending the night at the residence of a man she met on the social media platform TikTok. The incident occurred over the weekend in Warri, Delta State, and has raised fresh concerns about the safety of online interactions.

According to sources, Brenda had connected with the man, known by his TikTok username Emmypounds, just days before the incident. After a brief exchange of messages and building a virtual connection, she agreed to visit him at his apartment located along Jakpa Road in Warri.

Her family and friends became alarmed when they were unable to reach her for several days. One of her close friends, who had access to her TikTok account through a second device, discovered that Brenda had gone to meet Emmypounds based on their recent conversations.

When contacted, Emmypounds claimed Brenda had fallen ill and was taken to a nearby hospital. Her family tracked her to the facility, where they found her in a critical condition. She was reportedly unresponsive, had multiple bruises on her body, and was wearing adult diapers due to involuntary defecation and urination. Brenda was unable to speak and later passed away without disclosing any details about what happened.

Police have since taken Emmypounds into custody for questioning. He has maintained his innocence, stating that both of them slept in the same room and that he woke up to find her in that condition.

Speaking to newsmen, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer Edafe Bright said the case was not being treated as murder. He stated that investigators suspect Brenda may have died from generator fumes inhaled while they were indoors.

“It’s not a case of murder. They put on a generator in the house, and it was suspected that the fumes killed the lady while the boy escaped narrowly. It was after the boy recovered that he was taken into custody,” Bright explained.

Brenda has since been buried. The police have continued their investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
